J-Soc - First Impressions
Being a physics student at Birkbeck is all I needed to fulfill my passion for physics and mathematics, but I always wondered if I could find here something that would fulfill me culturally, socially and humanistically as well. Our recent J-Soc social showed me that, yes, I can!
In a turnout that was above expectation, I got to meet lovely fellow students from a diverse range of backgrounds: Jews and non-Jews, religious and secular, British and foreign. Culture and religion are there to help us connect with other people and to express our values and I am sure that the Birkbeck J-Soc will be a great platform to accommodate this.
As the secretary of our society, I, alongside the other committee members, hope to enable a space where opinions and experiences can be shared openly, where diversity, inclusivity and pluralism are valued and where open Jewish learning and expression can take place.
I am looking forward to our future events and activities and to getting to know more fascinating Birbeckien people!
