The Students’ Union is a registered charity regulated under Part II of the 1994 Education Act and is autonomous of Birkbeck College. The Students’ Union exists to promote the interests and welfare of students, as well as enhance the experience of our members who are currently students at Birkbeck College. We do this by providing:

  • Support and advice,

  • A representative voice,

  • Social, cultural and recreational activities,

  • Personal development and opportunities,

  • Forums for discussion and debate.

We are a student-led organisation and each year we hold elections for Liberation Officers and Student Council Representatives. Elected Officers help lead and shape the direction of the Students’ Union– democracy is key for us.

Birkbeck Students’ Union maintains various avenues enabling us to be effective representatives of the student community at Birkbeck. As members of the Students’ Union, you are entitled to involvement in these processes to have your say and support the Union in elevating the student voice. Getting involved is quick and easy– simply by providing us with your opinions and ideas you can help shape the student experience and Birkbeck and influence changes happening in the College. The Student Voice team is here to help.
