NEW EATING AREA WITH MICROWAVES NOW OPEN!

We are pleased to announce that a new eating area for students who bring food from home to eat, opened earlier this week! This area includes Birkbeck’s first microwave ovens for the use of students, so that students have the option to reheat and prepare hot meals from home - a great way to save money and time. The area contains a range of seating for students to sit and eat their meals. It is located directly to the right of reception, as you enter Birkbeck’s Clore Management Centre (the building directly across the square from Birkbeck’s Malet Street building)
This new eating area came about as a result of the success of the Students’ Unions campus food campaign, led by Student Leader Alex Holmes, with the valuable support of the College’s estates team.
Many students with specific dietary needs or allergies will benefit from this, but this is also something that will benefit working students and students with a limited budget.
This news comes alongside discussions we have had with the College’s catering provider, who have increased the selection of food options on offer at the College’s canteen and cafes, with more vegan, vegetarian and halal options now available to students.
Please use this new facility responsibly.
