A bit about me...

What is your role?
Support and represent the trans and non-binary students at Birkbeck.

Tell us a bit about yourself...
I grew up on the south coast of England, but spent a fair amount of time in Malta (I'm half Maltese). Was working as a ski tech for many years but handed in my notice over the summer and was working out what to do next with my life! Started to look into going to uni (on clearing day) and ran with it, and here I am now! I pick up new hobbies like it is a hobby in itself, Pole Dance, Archery, Skiing, Fencing, Roller Derby (learning!), Climbing, Photography, Gigs + Festivals and going out dancing the night away. But also very happy curled up with a good book! While I've always been more focused on trans rights, I'm very intersectional and will support any minority as we push for a fairer, more equal society.

Why did you run in the elections?
Emily and Tonya strong-armed me into doing it! Nah I joking (or am I?). I've been active in various communities for a while and figured my experience and passion for improving things would be a good fit for the role.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I cosplay and this year did Coco Diablo (who Velma came out as gay over), Blake (RWBY) and Poison Ivy. The last of which I wore to march at pride!

What are your goals for the year?
Making sure that events are properly welcoming for trans students and not needlessly gendered or exclusionary in their definition. Regular events for trans folk to socialise at.
