A bit about me...

What is your role?
To offer students who identify with the LGBTQ community a support system and a feeling of belonging. To assist those with non-conventional, but diverse sexual and gender identities in feeling safe and comfortable at Birkbeck. Campaigning for structural improvements within the university services so that such minority groups can feel included and that they have a voice. To ensure you have the knowledge and resources to meet your academic and basic needs. To guide you in creating appropriate circumstances so that you feel confident in pursuing your educational and career goals during your course of study.

Tell us a bit about yourself...
I'm a mature student studying computer science as an undergrad. I've been an active LGBTQIA++ advocate since 2003 when I came out. I've since discovered myself to be demisexual and gender fluid. I have training in holistic emotional therapies and trauma release. I have previously taught guided meditations and am well practiced in multiple meditation styles. My hobbies include agriculture, aquariums, and music. I'm passionate about fairness and justice, humanitarianism, and civil rights. Make love, not war.

Why did you run in the elections?
I have a strong sense of morality and care for people's rights and I have the confidence to speak up where need be. I'm courageous in challenging ineffective authority and standing up for those in vulnerable positions. It means a lot to me to be part of a union and offer a helpful service that could benefit others. I enjoy listening to people and collaborating to find solutions that help. Mostly I am keen to learn and gain valuable experience from the union, students, and from the university.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I write and record vocals for electronic dance music.

What are your goals for the year?
To create an engaging community for the LGBTQ students at Birkbeck.
Organize fun and educational events that expand students' networks and offer helpful knowledge and resources
