A bit about me...

What is your role?
To be a spokesperson for the demands and opinions of every Black student at Birkbeck.

Tell us a bit about yourself...
I was born in London but originally I am from Nigeria. I study BA Philosophy. Before studying at Birkbeck, I was doing A-levels. I like to watch TV shows, watch films, play video games, watch sports and go out with my friends to do things such as going to the cinema. I am passionate about issues such as hate crime and poverty.

Why did you run in the elections?
To make a difference in the experience of not just black students but of all students at Birkbeck.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself?
I can hold my breath underwater for 10 seconds!

What are your goals for the year?

• Start not only a comprehensive Black history month but a Black History Year full of events and discussions that shows the contribution and struggle of Black British people because our past cannot be defined in one month.
• Make sure the university talks about and more importantly outlines steps to tackle the real problem of BAME students' mental health.
• Work with fellow colleagues to tackle the BAME achievement gap.
• Highlight and challenge every time BAME students are tokenized by the University.
